Aptos founding engineer Sherry discusses the vision and technological innovation of the global trading engine

Aptos is steadily advancing towards its strategic positioning as a "global trading engine" through technological innovation and ecological expansion. Its total locked value and market capitalization of stablecoins have both seen significant growth, demonstrating strong ecological appeal and capital bearing capacity. Against this backdrop, we had an in-depth conversation with Sherry Xiao, an early founding engineer of Aptos, to discuss key topics such as Aptos's technical architecture, ecological expansion strategies, and developer support.

Technical Foundation of High-Performance Public Chains

Sherry previously worked as an engineer on scalability architecture at Instagram. She later joined Meta's Libra/Diem team, where she was involved in validation nodes and infrastructure development. In 2022, she co-founded Aptos with the team.

When discussing the advantages of the Move language, Sherry pointed out that it is a language specifically designed for smart contracts, providing numerous safeguards in asset management and security. Move offers formal verification tools that can effectively avoid common security vulnerabilities and supports innovative features such as dynamic distribution, account abstraction, and permissioned signatures.

In terms of technical infrastructure, Sherry believes that there is still significant room for improvement in the developer experience and user experience of Web3. Aptos is deeply focusing on ZK-based login solutions and privacy protection technologies to meet the user privacy needs in large-scale payments.

The scalability of Aptos is its core advantage. The team has extensive experience in building highly scalable systems, and Aptos's design is highly modular:

• The consensus layer uses the latest Raptr algorithm.
• The execution layer uses the industry-leading Block-STM technology.
• The storage layer has implemented sharding technology.

These open-source technologies are adopted by many emerging public chains and L2s, but Aptos is able to continuously maintain a technological advantage.

Key Focus of Ecological Layout

Aptos's ecological layout mainly focuses on the following aspects:

1. Infrastructure construction: Native support for the three major stablecoins, enabling seamless on-chain peer-to-peer payments.
2. Institutional Collaboration: Launching RWA projects with institutions such as Franklin Templeton.

Sherry looks forward to seeing innovative payment projects combined with stablecoins, such as implementing payroll flow payments. She believes that migrating traditional payment software onto the blockchain, combined with privacy protection features, can create new scenarios that promote the widespread adoption of blockchain technology.

Regarding the changes in the senior management of the team, Sherry stated that this is an opportunity to reassess the plan and make adjustments, which will help the team to think better about the future layout direction.
