Scroll zkEVM Guide: 5 Steps to Master L2 on-chain Tic-Tac-Toe
Scroll zkEVM Beginner's Guide
This article will introduce beginners to how to interact with L2 Dapps, using Scroll zkEVM as an example. The skills learned from this guide can be applied to other Layer 2 networks. We will use an on-chain tic-tac-toe game running on the Scroll L2 network as an example.
Preparation Work
First, you need to install Metamask or a similar crypto wallet. If you have already installed Metamask, you can skip this step.
Step 1: Configure Test Network
Scroll zkEVM has currently launched its alpha testnet, which is a Layer 2 network compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It is connected to the Ethereum Goerli testnet, ensuring finality by batch submitting transactions to the Goerli L1 network.
You need to add the Scroll L2 network and the Goerli testnet to Metamask. You can visit the official Scroll website for detailed configuration instructions.
Step 2: Obtain Test Tokens
Next, you need to acquire some Goerli testnet ETH. You can use multiple faucets to obtain test tokens, including the faucet provided by Alchemy, PoW mining faucets, and others. It is recommended to try different faucets to get enough test ETH.
Step 3: Cross-Chain Transfer
After obtaining Goerli testnet ETH, you need to transfer some ETH to the Scroll L2 testnet. You can use the cross-chain bridge provided by Scroll to perform this operation. It is important to note that cross-chain transfers may take some time to complete.
Step 4: Experience On-Chain Games
You can now try playing the on-chain Tic Tac Toe game on Scroll L2. After connecting your wallet, create a new game by adding your opponent's address or using another wallet as the second player. The game also provides a reset function, allowing players to restart if they make a mistake or do not want to lose the game.
Step 5: Explore More Dapps
If you want to experience more decentralized applications and games on Scroll, you can visit Scroll's ecosystem page to learn more about the projects that are currently running.
By following the steps above, you can start exploring and using decentralized applications on Scroll zkEVM. With more developers joining the ecosystem, we believe that more interesting applications will appear on this efficient layer two network in the future.
