With the arrival of the Web3 era, decentralized storage networks have gradually become the focus of attention. Although traditional decentralized storage technologies perform well in file storage, they may face performance and speed bottlenecks in dApps application scenarios, especially during file retrieval. This is mainly because the distributed nature may result in file retrieval speeds that are lower than centralized services.
In response to this challenge, CESS has emerged. As an innovative decentralized storage infrastructure, CESS aims to address the shortcomings of traditional decentralized storage networks in terms of performance and speed.
The Three-Tier Architecture of CESS
CESS is composed of three functional layers:
Public Chain Layer: Developed based on Substrate, integrating the EVM Pallet module, supporting seamless operation of Ethereum smart contracts.
Storage Layer: A blockchain-based decentralized cloud storage system responsible for storing file content. After files are uploaded, they undergo encryption, sharding, and redundancy processing, and are randomly allocated to storage nodes that meet the requirements.
Content Distribution Layer ( DCDN ): Utilizing CDN technology to aggregate and cache data shards from the user's nearest edge nodes, improving access speed and reducing transaction costs.
Decentralization Features

Multi-copy recoverable storage proof ( PoDR² ): Ensure the multi-copy storage and recoverability of files.
Proof of Idle Space ( PoIS ): By generating a set of idle files and providing proof, validate the available space of storage nodes.
