The former Emperor of Japan has been diagnosed with asymptomatic myocardial ischemia.

Jin10 reported on May 10 that the Imperial Household Agency of Japan stated that the former Emperor (91 years old) underwent detailed heart examinations at the University of Tokyo Hospital (Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo) on the 10th, and the results diagnosed him with asymptomatic myocardial ischemia. The Imperial Household Agency indicated that the former Emperor will receive medication treatment to suppress the progression of the condition while maintaining daily life with avoidance of excessive physical exertion. It is reported that there are no subjective symptoms such as chest pain.
