[ING: Trump's Nomination of Temporary Fed Governor Has Little Impact on the Dollar] Francesco Pesole, an economist at ING Group, stated in a report that the dollar has only weakened slightly following Trump's nomination of Stephen Moore to fill the vacancy on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Moore has recently criticized the Fed over interest rate cuts and has called for comprehensive reform of the Fed; he will temporarily fill the position until the term ends in January next year. Reports suggest that Fed Governor Waller is a popular candidate to succeed Fed Chair Powell, which has also offset this impact. Compared to another potential candidate, Kevin Hassett, he holds a more moderate stance on interest rate cuts.
