On July 3, Jin Ten Data reported that the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), Pulte, called for Congress to investigate Federal Reserve Chairman Powell, stating that his recent testimony regarding the renovation plan for the Federal Reserve headquarters in the Senate was "deceptive." Pulte said, "I request that Congress investigate Powell for his political bias and the deceptive Senate testimony—this is sufficient to constitute 'just cause' for his dismissal." Pulte's remarks on this matter were retweeted by Trump, who stated that Powell should resign immediately. Earlier reports indicated that the cost of the Federal Reserve headquarters renovation project has been continuously rising and includes multiple luxury designs. At last week's Senate hearing, Powell refuted some of the content in the reports, stating that it was "misleading in many ways and not accurate."
