Security company: Hackers disguised scam contracts as encryption trading Bots and spread them through YouTube videos.
On August 7, cybersecurity company SentinelLABS announced that it had discovered a series of eyewash in which hackers disguised as Bots spread malicious smart contracts to steal crypto users' Wallets. The hackers marketed through YouTube videos, which explained the nature of crypto trading Bots and how to deploy smart contracts on the Remix Solidity compiler platform (a web-based Web3 project integrated development environment (IDE)). The video instructions shared a link to an external website hosting weaponized smart contract code. At the same time, the attackers managed the YouTube comments section, deleting all negative comments. After the victims deployed the smart contracts, the attackers' Wallets would be added and disguised as trading addresses to hide. When users deposited for the contracts, the scammers could steal the funds.
